Dylan Tripodi awarded $2,500 scholarship offered to a child of a CXtec or TERACAI employee
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - CXtec has awarded the 2010 Bill & Sandra Pomeroy Scholarship to Dylan Tripodi, a senior at Westhill High School.
The Bill & Sandra Pomeroy Scholarship is offered annually to a high school senior who is the child of a CXtec or TERACAI employee. Employees who were involved in a leadership development program suggested awarding an annual college scholarship to the child of an employee who best exemplifies the company's core values. To help lessen the financial burden on the recipient family and to better account for recent and future tuition hikes, William Pomeroy, founder and CEO of CXtec and TERACAI, increased the recommended scholarship amount to $2,500, and the first scholarship was awarded in 2005.
To be considered for the scholarship, eligible students are required to submit an application that includes evidence of their academic achievements and an essay that describes how living by the company's core values - honesty and integrity, teamwork, the entrepreneurial spirit, being resourceful and being committed to the community - and obtaining an advanced education will prepare them for a successful future.
Tripodi was selected based on his essay, exceptional academic merit, community service and extracurricular activities.
"We believe that the CXtec core values define who we are and how we do business," said Pomeroy. "It is our hope that employees not only live by these core values while they are at work, but also in their lives outside of the company."
In his essay, Tripodi wrote, "As I look at CXtec's core values, I cannot help but feel as though these should not only be values important to the employees of CXtec, but more so values that we all must possess in order to ensure success in both business and in life. In my eyes, the importance of this scholarship knows no bounds, as does the advanced education I am lucky enough to be receiving over the next four years. I truly believe that, in conjunction, the two will undoubtedly prepare me for a successful future and more importantly, make me a better person."
Tripodi plans to attend Union College in the fall to major in business/economics.
