Pi Day is upon us again!
This is a great day for geeks like myself - one I look forward to every year.
Pi Day is celebrated annually on March 14 aka 3/14 which is akin to pi's 3.14159... Celebrations on the day of observance also commemorate Albert Einstein's birthday, which happens to be March 14.
You are probably thinking, “So Dave, what does a networking guy like yourself do on this special day?” Well, let me tell you.
3:14 a.m. - Alarm clock wakes me up for a brief celebration of the ante meridiem pi time on Pi Day. Wife is first person officially annoyed by me on Pi Day - won't be the last.
7:00 a.m. - Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but even more so on Pi Day! My meal of choice? Pi(e) of course. Today, I'm feeling apple.
7:45 a.m. - Breakfast is over. Time to jump in my car and head to work where I will arrive and tell my coworkers they are being irrational (much like the number pi), which will quickly draw their ire.
9:15 a.m. - I send around my Photoshopped “Friday” movie parody GIF. This one says "Piday" and it features me playing the role of Craig Jones, the lead character originally played by Ice Cube.
9:17 a.m. - My coworkers remind me they saw this same GIF last year, the year before, and so on.
9:18 a.m. - I say to my coworkers, “Get real!” Another wordplay on pi. For me, this GIF will never get old.
10:37 a.m. - Time to create Cisco specials for the team, all Pi Day-themed of course.
12:00 p.m. - Order a pizza pi(e) for lunch to share with those I have annoyed with my numerous obscure pi references and jokes.
3:11 p.m. - The pi puns have not let up. I try to get my boss to let me leave - you guessed it - at 3:14.
3:12 p.m. - Request to leave denied. Expecting this result I quickly gather noisemakers and other various forms of merriment.
3:14 p.m. - Run around around office shouting happily and raising a general ruckus to celebrate the post meridiem pi time during Pi Day.
3:15 p.m. - Return to my desk and resume my duties, happily providing guidance and support to the team until the work bell rings.
5:00 p.m. - The work day done, I return home and check out some of the great Pi Day memes online.
Here is my personal favorite:
6:17 p.m. - Dinner time at last! I finish the Pi Day celebrations out strong by enjoying a delicious chicken pot pi(e).
9:02 p.m. - Weary from an exciting day, I lay me down to dream of 3/14/2018.
