CXtec® launches LIFECYCLExpress™ IT asset recovery program
Provides secure disposal options and technology remarketing for unwanted IT equipment

  • Feb 17, 2010
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - CXtec®, a global provider of certified pre-owned and new data networking and voice equipment, has launched LIFECYCLExpress™, one of the industry's most expansive IT asset recovery programs. LIFECYCLExpress includes IT asset disposal and technology remarketing.

End-of-life IT asset disposal is a new service offered by CXtec to discard or recycle unwanted IT equipment in a legal, secure and environmentally responsible manner. The company has offered technology remarketing for more than 30 years and will continue to provide customers with cash, credit or trade for networking or voice equipment that can be refurbished and resold.

"Talking to our customers, we learned there was a need for a more comprehensive asset recovery program," said Frank Kobuszewski, vice president of CXtec's Technology Solutions Group. "We need to help them not only sell equipment that still may have value, but also properly dispose of unwanted e-waste with no value. By offering both remarketing and disposal options, we can help customers reduce their risk and increase their bottom line by offering cash or credit on an account for a wide variety of technology equipment."

The asset recovery program helps customers from all industries avoid space issues, safety violations and security concerns.

For end-of-life equipment, LIFECYCLExpress offers secure IT asset disposal options. Traditionally a confusing and inconvenient process, discarding unwanted IT equipment often raises questions about sensitive data, adherence to environmental regulations for e-waste recycling and the reverse logistics of collecting and transporting the equipment.

CXtec's LIFECYCLExpress offerings include equipment sanitization and secure data destruction processes that comply with National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) standards and meet and exceed federal regulations and Department of Defense standards. CXtec is a member of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI) and the Investment Recovery Association (IRA), and CXtec's Technology Certification and Distribution Center is a Recycling Industries Operating Standard (RIOS)-member facility.

Logistically, the process is simple. With the LIFECYCLExpress IT asset disposal service, companies can select the solution that suits their specific needs. CXtec's Green Cube™ recycling container can fit up to 1,000 pounds of e-waste, such as computers, monitors, printers, telephone gear, fax machines, network gear, servers, PoS equipment and more, in a single box. The Green Cube is available in two sizes. Customers receive a certificate of recycling and/or data destruction that ensures asset security.

For electronic waste in excess of 1,000 pounds, LIFECYCLExpress offers nationwide asset pick-up and recycling in accordance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines.

For IT assets that have no working value to one company but may still provide a valuable service to another, technology remarketing is an opportunity for companies to achieve financial return for their unwanted equipment. LIFECYCLExpress buys used technology equipment such as phones, switches, routers and servers. Each item is fully cleaned, refurbished and recertified before it re-enters the marketplace as an equal2new® solution - CXtec's own brand of certified pre-owned refurbished network and voice hardware, currently celebrating its 15th year.

Before receiving equal2new certification, equipment undergoes a rigorous refurbishing process at CXtec's state-of-the-art, 70,000-square-foot Technology Certification and Distribution Center (TCDC) in Syracuse, N.Y. The process includes thorough diagnostic inspection, refurbishing, testing and shipping in an electrostatic discharge (ESD)-protected, dust-free environment.
