Allows government agencies to safely and securely dispose of e-waste in incremental quantities rather than storing unwanted IT equipment

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Green Cube™ e-waste recycling container, data destruction and other information technology (IT) e-waste disposal services offered by CXtec® have been added to the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) IT Schedule 70.

The services include the large Green Cube, Green Cube Lite, monitor disposal, hard drive and tape destruction and serialization.

The large Green Cube is an easy-to-assemble box that can fit up to 1,000 pounds of e-waste, such as computers, monitors, printers, telephone gear, fax machines, network gear, servers and more. Once the box is filled, CXtec handles all shipping logistics and customers receive a certificate of recycling and/or data destruction that ensures asset security.

"The Green Cube provides an easy, secure and environmentally responsible way for government agencies and other organizations to quickly and conveniently dispose of unneeded IT equipment," said Frank Kobuszewski, vice president of CXtec's Technology Solutions Group. "CXtec helps make the process quick and easy by handling all of the logistics and closed-loop paperwork."

For end-of-life equipment, CXtec offers secure IT asset disposal including equipment sanitization and secure data destruction processes that comply with National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) standards and meet and exceed federal regulations and Department of Defense standards. CXtec is a member of NAID, the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI) and the Investment Recovery Association (IRA), and CXtec's Technology Certification and Distribution Center is a Recycling Industry Operating Standard (RIOS)-member facility. Equipment is recycled in compliance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines.

For IT assets that have no working value to one company but may still provide a valuable service to another, CXtec offers technology remarketing, which is an opportunity for companies to achieve financial return for their unwanted equipment. CXtec has been in the technology remarketing business for more than 30 years and buys used technology equipment such as phones, switches, routers and servers. Each item is fully cleaned, refurbished and recertified before it re-enters the marketplace as an equal2new® solution - CXtec's own brand of certified pre-owned refurbished network equipment and voice hardware.

Before receiving equal2new certification, equipment undergoes a rigorous refurbishing process at CXtec's state-of-the-art, 70,000-square-foot Technology Certification and Distribution Center (TCDC) in Syracuse, N.Y. The process includes thorough diagnostic inspection, refurbishing, testing and shipping in an electrostatic discharge (ESD)-protected, dust-free environment.

Under the Cooperative Purchasing Program, state and local government entities may purchase a variety of IT products, software and services from contracts awarded under GSA Federal Supply Schedule 70.

On GSA IT Schedule 70, CXtec provides equal2new networking equipment, telephone equipment, copper network cabling and fiber network cabling products to federal, state and local government customers (#GS-35F-0315N). CXtec has more than 1,300 products on Schedule 70.
