SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Mike Featherstone, regional sales manager at CXtec, will play at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 2 during Fortune magazine's 10th annual Battle of the Corporate Bands.
Along with eight other musicians, Featherstone was chosen to be part of an alumni band that will serve as the opening act for this year's finals. Featherstone will play bass during the 40-minute set, which comprises a mix of classic rock hits, including songs by Blondie, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Guns N' Roses. This is his second appearance at the competition.
In June 2004, Featherstone and his fellow band mates in The CXtec Dinosaurs®, the company's house rock band, were among eight bands chosen worldwide to compete at the finals. Although they didn't take home first place, Featherstone said he had a feeling he would play at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame again.
Featherstone says he isn't nearly as nervous this time around. "It's not a competition now," he said. "We're just excited and ready to have some fun."
The CXtec Dinosaurs were founded in 2003 at the urging of CXtec Founder and CEO William G. Pomeroy who saw a need for good, free entertainment at Central New York charitable events and fundraisers. Featherstone jumped at the chance.
"We are extremely proud of Mike's accomplishments," said Pomeroy. "The CXtec Dinosaurs have been a pivotal part of our commitment to community service throughout the years and he certainly deserves recognition for his outstanding talents."
Featherstone said he views playing with The CXtec Dinosaurs not only as an outlet for his musical talents, but also as a way to give back to the community.
"I'm as proud of the things I've been able to do for this community as anything I've done musically," he said. "But being able to play at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice is definitely near the top of the list."
