Media ConversionWhy use fiber? Distance can be transmitted at greater distances on fiber optic cabling than is possible on copper UTP. Don't spend your valuable IT dollars on installing a switch every 100 meters when you can run up to 2000 meters on multimode fiber. Fiber will protect your data from noise and interference when cabling is run through areas with high levels of electromagnetic interference. Fiber offers greater bandwidth carrying capacity than is available with copper UTP. Why use media converters when deploying fiber? Protect your investment in your current copper-based switches, routers and NICs. Don't throw this equipment out; connect their RJ-45 ports to media converters and connect the media converters to your fiber. Media converters allow you the flexibility to deploy fiber on an as-needed basis. Don't get locked into a multi-port fiber switch when you only need a few points of fiber connectivity today. When you need more fiber, you can add more affordable media converters. |
